Black and White charcoal; shading

Using charcoal is always a good experience and takes time to master but it is easy to see progression when using it. the first picture is the white charcoal on black paper, i struggled to shade this image but it turned out ok. The second image is the head of a statue in the profile position. The charcoal helped make shading easier to add depth to the face. I enjoyed doing this picture a lot.

Before and after: Profile portraits

Both pictures were to do a profile of the human face. The first was learning the positions and proportions of each section of the face. it was mainly to get use to drawing from the side, and definitely was a huge help in dawing a realistic profile which brings me to the second picture. But in this one i was allowed to focus also on shaddow and the depth to the picture.

before and after

The first photo i was asked to draw was of someone i know and this was at the first of class before learning anything. The second picture is after learning a few helpful skills to drawing a face. this was definitely a good learning and enjoyable experience to see the changes in my art.
